Palacio de Hierro, the most prestigious department store in Mexico, with over $900 million dollars sales in 2005, was looking for a way to optimize its order processing. Quarksoft developed a tree tiered system able to receive, route and track orders originating in stores or the Internet. The system implemented a JSF presentation layer, which interacted with a logic layer implemented through session beans hosted on a Sun One application server. OSWorkflow was used to orchestrate the business logic. The persistence layer used Entity Beans to encapsulate database access.
The system was developed within 10% of the original estimation and allowed Palacio de Hierro to improve delivery times, reduce costs and provide better customer service.
